Fantasy in D minor for flute sextet

$10.00

Wolfgang Amedeus Mozart‘s Fantasy in D minor is a compact piece full of drama and energy. Displaying no pathos in the opening section, it shifts tempos and dynamics for maximum impact. Cadenzas rise from the bass up to first flute. Then it segues into a sprightly D major Allegretto section that keeps the drama, and ends with irrepressible good cheer. Originally a chamber showpiece for piano, it adapts well for flutes. The optional contrabass part adds depth and sonority, but this arrangement will work fine if a contra is not available. The main technical issues are the sectional rapid tempo changes and the absolute rhythmic consistency needed to properly execute the cadenzas.
