Divertimento in D Major, KV 136 for flute septet

$21.00

Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart composed this Divertimento for strings during down-time his winter of 1772 in Salzburg. The first movement centers around a charming theme that ends with an amusing little dynamic retreat. The development moves into the minor mode, surprising the listener with a second theme. The Andante is warm and elegant, with its two halves contrasted by a brief acceleration in the accompaniment’s pulse. A spirited Presto brings this composition to a close. This is a fine example of Mozart’s ambitious work in a genre that traditionally was designated as “light” music.
