Aria: Bist du bei mir for flute quintet

$5.00

Found in the Notebook for Anna Magdalena Bach, this aria was written by Bach’s contemporary, Gottfried Henrich Stolzel for his opera Diomedes (1718), then appropriated in choral works by Bach. “If you are with me, I go in joy” is a love song composed for soprano and continuo. Being lovely throughout has assured its becoming well-known, as it exhibits interwoven melodies that gradually increase in complexity and then resolve into simply beauty. This flute choir arrangement moves the melodies and harmonies among the full range of instruments. Exact lining up of eighth notes and careful intonation will create a sublime dessert for the ears.
