Ika Peyron composed diligently from a young age, producing exciting works. However, it was difficult for her to be accepted, as in the latter half of the 19th century, it was not considered quite suitable for women to engage in composition. After her children grew up, she grasped the pen again, but published under her pseudonym Ika, an abbreviation of her real name Frederika. These two character pieces offer nicely contrasting salon pleasures: a restful Romance and an insinuating Humoresk.
