Three Traditional Puerto Rican Christmas Songs for flute trio

$7.00

The three songs in this little collection are well known to most Puerto Ricans, especially the older generations. Although they are intrinsically from the island, their style evokes Spain, with which Puerto Rico shares strong cultural ties. They are simple musical pieces for a beautiful season, and should be played loudly, full of joy and hope.

  1. La Aurora (The Dawn) depicts the coming of dawn as the moon and the sun clear the darkness.
  2. Pastores a Belen (Shepherds to Bethlehem) describes the shepherds’ journey to see Mary’s babe in the manger.
  3. Yo soy Vicentillo (I’m Vicentillo) is the song of little Vincent, who has come to sing and hush baby Jesus. The second part is: “Mi-sol-sol-sol-sol, mi-sol-sol-sol-do, don’t cry my love, don’t cry anymore.”
