The Thriller for flute ensemble

1909 is the composition date. Indianapolis is the location. The best known among female ragtime composers, May Aufderheide (1888-1972), is the originator of this quirky romp in ragtime land.

Written originally for piano of course, the themes and rhythms adapt very well to the flute choir and this selection is an especially welcome addition to that ensemble’s ragtime repertoire.
