The Farewell for flute octet

$10.00

Variations of a three-note motif describes in musical terms the situation, the feelings, and the thoughts when leaving a place and a people who prompted happiness for a short time. With that separation, one must return to the stresses, responsibilities, and impositions of society and the craziness of big city life. While the piece is essentially meditative, towards the end there is a moment of happiness where ascending flutes take us from G minor to the relative major. This reminds us of the happy times, the amazing music of a local band, and the goodness of the people. However, reality takes us back into a somber mood where the original three-note pattern sets the tone through the process of saying farewell.
