Although George Friedrich Handel‘s focus was on opera and oratorio, his output for the harpsichord is of high quality, great variety, and instrumental originality. He was a formidable keyboard virtuoso. This is one of two charming Suites that he composed for a student, Princess Louisa, the daughter of the Prince of Wales (later George II), in 1739. Its movements are Allemande, Courante, Sarabande, and Gigue. The instrumentation of this arrangement suits the styles and expressions in delightful ways.
