Shadows, a Rose, and a Hummingbird for flute quintet

$12.00

Edward MacDowell (1860-1908) was an American composer known for his musical depictions of nature. This arrangement features three of his best short pieces that complement each other: the slightly spooky Shadow Dance, the very tender To a Wild Rose, and the zippy To a Hummingbird. Both low and high members of the flute family have prominent parts throughout. The piccolo is traded over to a flute in the Rose segment, a brief rest in an otherwise rather difficult part. Otherwise, there are no major performance challenges except for the shifting moods and the articulations significant to each section.
