As the third movement of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart‘s Piano Sonata #11, K. 331, this movement is often performed alone and has become very popular. Mozart composed it in 1783. Known as “Turkish March”, it imitates the sound of Turkish Janissary bands that were much in vogue at the time. This trio arrangement was written for the New York Metropolitan Flute Trio and is especially elegant and easy to work up as an ensemble for educational purposes or for performances.
