Pensando en Nada (Thinking About Nothing) for flute octet and percussion

$17.00

The title for this composition speaks for itself: it is simply a piece for musicians and audience members to enjoy. It should prompt people to want to dance perhaps, sway hips, tap toes, wave arms, and just be happy!

The upbeat tempo should be uniform from beginning to end. The melody is carried by flutes 1 and 2 most of the time, although other voices share it occasionally. The dotted eighths on the second and fourth beats starting in measure 15 and repeated throughout set the festive rhythm and should be played joyfully. The piccolo presents a nice additional line, entering here and there, just enough and not too much. The bass and the drums are the rhythmic foundation, completing the dance mood. All voices are vital in creating the syncopated style.
