Motives No 2 – Carousel for flute sextet

In about the time it takes for a traditional carousel ride, the composer musically paints the feelings of a ride on beautiful carousel horses with their bright colors, their mouths open, eyes gazing back, going up and down in a circle while listening to the joyful notes of the calliope playing in the center. This ride may be thought of as a ride on the carousel of life, with its ups and downs, all the while going around and round while looking out at the rest of the world. Each person will find his/her own joys in the experience while remembering the playfulness and freedom of childhood.
