Motives No 1 – Communications for flute octet

$12.00

The motive of this piece was created by the composer when he was in middle school studying a Social Studies unit on “How we Communicate with Others.” It has evolved over the years with added related melodies, without losing its original programmatic character. After a very short introduction in 3/4, it establishes its main motive (in 5/4) in a distinctive circular feel that permeates the whole piece. Its energetic tempo is slowed momentarily at times, only to resume into an exciting whirlwind mode all the way to the end, where it slows down to a halt.
