Intermezzo No 2 for flute sextet

Johannes Brahms‘ Intermezzo No 2 is one of his most soulfully mellow compositions, not the merest hint of thunder. Originally composed for piano, it suits flutes well, perhaps even better than the original instrument; a piece to sail away into pleasant daydreams. The lower flutes work a little harder than the upper flutes as they keep lovely arpeggios in rhythm, but all instruments have important and interesting parts.
