Horn Concerto No 3 Movement 1 for flute sextet

$6.00

Mozart’s No 3 is probably the most popular of his four Horn Concertos. He composed them for a fellow musician who was a celebrated horn player of their day. It is elegantly exuberant, Mozart at his best. For this arrangement, several identical section repeats were modestly cut to allow for a medium length program piece and the solo line is moved among several parts for interest. Lower range notes are generally utilized. If the alto part is played in concert pitch, it will be better to use an extra bass flute than a C-flute, as the harmonies need to be appreciated as they are. Flutes are a bit more supple than the horns of Mozart’s day, so the moderate allegro tempo can be adjusted to taste.
