Evening Prayer from “Hansel and Gretel” for flute octet

Of all the tunes in the “Hansel and Gretel” opera, this charming piece is the best known. Its character is rather Germanic, and the fairy-tale and peaceful setting appeals to young and old alike. The challenges to performers will be to concentrate on intonation and breath control. The warm character of the piece is brought out by the tones of the three lower flutes.
