Charlotte Ellis is a freelance musician and composer in Blountville, Tennessee. She performs in a number of ensembles in the east Tennessee area, including the flute and piano duo Windsong and Bittersweet Celtic Ensemble, and is the founder of Morningstar Flute Ensemble, a quintet whose CD “Tranquility” is just that — tranquil.
She found that her degree in economics from the University of Tennessee was not a good fit and returned to her lifelong love affair with music after a 20-year hiatus. Most of her compositions are inspired by special occasions in the lives of those she holds dear, and it gives her great joy to present her friends with personalized musical gifts.
Charlotte has toured in Britain, China, Australia and New Zealand with the Veterans Administration National Medical Musical Group. She holds membership in the National Flute Association and is a former flute instructor.
Affectionately known as “The Bread Lady,” Charlotte is the owner of Flour Fancies Bakery, where her husband (who is Bittersweet’s guitarist) performs, in his words, “unskilled labor under close supervision.”
