The basic requirement is for 3 octaves of handbells and 3 octaves of choir chimes. These are rung by one choir … in alternating fashion. One of them, more likely the chimes, could be played on piano or keyboard. The suspended bells could be played on xylophone or keyboard, etc. There are many possibilities!
Inspired by a flutist colleague’s invitation to arrange a piece for her daughter’s school handbell program, I revised a flute choir version of this gorgeous melody (How Brightly Shines the Morning Star) for the combination of handbells and flutes.
