Scherzo, A Midsummer Night’s Dream for flute octet

This scherzo is the second act prelude of a “Midsummer Night’s Dream.” Puck, the goblin, and an elf are gossiping about the crisis in the relationship between the fairy king, Oberon, and his wife, Titania. All the flutes rush daintily around with a staccato firework display as they paint a dazzling fairy spell to foretaste the humorous events to come.
